Nautical Birthday - Masculine - Sketch Challenge

Here is another sketch challenge from Sunny Challenges & Creations.

I'm keeping up with my challenge of creating Masculine cards to replenish my stock.  Here is the sketch...
And here is my interpretation of the sketch:

I did something a bit different around the sentiment.  Instead of rolling out a framelits shape and stamp the sentiment on that, I took a Framelits shape, adhered temporary snail to the back, positioned it where I wanted it on Very Vanilla cardstock and with my dauber shaded Crumb Cake all over and then Soft Suede just around the edges.  I then stamped images from The Open Sea stamp set all over.  Once I figured I had done enough, I removed the Framelits shape, which left the shape, but all clean of any ink, but you can still see the impression.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment and called it good.  I'm not sure what the technique is called, I guess it would be a reverse mask?

This card was created with the following Stampin' Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:
    • The Open Sea
    • Elementary Elegance
  • Punches:
    • Circle Punch (for Build a Brad cntr)

Cowboy Get Well Soon - Bright Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge Entry

My current goal is to work on as many masculine cards as I can.  There's nothing that says the colors can't be bright & cheerful?!  I spent most of the day with my Aunt Shirley.  I had such a pleasant peaceful feeling all day.  I'm so glad God gave me a day like today.  It was warm, in the 70's with a slight breeze.  Thankfully there were no bee's or wasps out.  My Aunt has cancer and has bravely accepted that her time is coming soon.  I have not yet reached the same understanding and would rather help her fight it all the way.  It breaks my heart to think of not having her in my life so I need to appreciate every moment I have with her.  Maybe that's why I felt so good today?  ")

After I've finished this card, I thought the stamped images went well with the theme.  You know, get well soon, as in "get back in the saddle again"!!!

This is also a Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge that I'm submitting.  Here is the sketch, my entry is below the sketch.

This card was created with the following Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Thank You - Masculine Style

Good afternoon everyone!  It's been a bit overcast and now it started lightening and thundering.  I just got home from visiting my daughter and grand babies so it looks like I made it just in time.  Just yesterday I was looking through my cards as I was wanting to give a Get Well Soon card to a teenaged boy who was in the hospital recovering from surgery.  I had a huge variety of cards to choose from for a woman or a girl, but very few for men or young men.  So, you know what this means?

It means I'm going to have to step outside of my comfort zone, put the frills, lace, and pastel colors away so I can focus on more manly cards.  sheesh!  I hate it when this happens.

If you have any good leads for inspiration making masculine cards, please feel free to share!

This card was made with the following Stampin' Up! supplies:
  • Stamps:
    • Totally Tool
  • Big Shot:
    •  Hounds-tooth Embossing Folder
    • Nestabilities Labels 3 Die
  • Misc:
    • Star Brads (SU! Clearance)
    • Ribbon
    • Dimensionals
  • Colors Used:
    • Chocolate Chip cardstock
    • Very Vanilla cardstock
    • Non SU! designer paper
    • Soft Suede ink

So, stay tuned whilst I make more Masculine cards!  And please share ANY ideas with me that might be useful.

Thanks for stopping by!

Black & White Blossom CASE

This card was inspired by an amazingly wonderful Stamper whom I look up to creatively, Connie Babbert.  As a matter of fact, this turned out to be more of a CASE than an inspiration once I got to going.

I wanted to leave this card without a sentiment until the time comes that I need to give someone this card and then I'll slap on a sentiment before sealing it in an envelope.

Too many times I have looked through my cards, looking for one for a particular event and lo & behold I find the perfect card but it's got the wrong sentiment.  sigh.... what to do, what to do.

Until I get any better idea's, I'm leaving the sentiment / greeting off of some of the cards I build.

This card was created with the following Stampin' Up! Supplies:
  • Stamps:
    • Mixed Bunch
  • Punches:
    • Blossom
    • Circle
    • Scallop Trim Border
  • Big Shot:
    • Bigz Perfect Pennants
    • CB Vines embossing folder
  • Misc Items:
    • Build a Brad
    • Dimensionals
    • Black Embossing Powder
    • Embossing Buddy
    • Powder Pal
    • Halfback Pearls
    • SU Designer Paper
    • Satin Ribbon
  • Colors Used:
    • Whisper White
    • Basic Black

Well, I'm off to make another card.  I tell ya, it feels soooooo good to have my Mojo back!

Daisies for Mom

Greetings Stampers!

Today's card is a Mother's Day card.  The Butterfly design was inspired by a woman named Tammy.  Please forgive me I've lost her blog address or I would give her the credit she very much deserves for coming up with this idea.  I really wish I could find her site again so you can review her version of the technique.

The butterfly in the center was stenciled with a dauber and 3 different colors:  Bashful Blue, Daffodil Delight, & Pumpkin Pie.

Using a clear plastic sheet I cut out a butterfly shape from the Bigz Beautiful Butterflies die.  Using the sheet with the butterfly cut in the center I adhered some temporary adhesive to Whisper White cardstock and stenciled the inside of the butterfly image and then stamped the Upsy Daisy image in black.

The following Supplies were used to create this card:

  • Stamps:
    • Upsy Daisy
  • Punches:
    • Boho Blossoms
    • Itty Bitty Bits
    • Modern Label
  • Big Shot:
    • Bigz Beautiful Butterflies
    • Framelits Labels
    • Movers and Shapers Modern Label
    • Square Lattice Embossing Folder
    • Beautiful Wings Embosslit
  • Misc:
    • Halfback Pearl
    • Spritzer
    • Stampin' Write Markers

So, there you have it!  Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!

You Inspire Me

Good morning Stampers!

This card means a lot to me as it was created for a very special lady in my life.  I have adopted her as my Mother, but technically she is an Aunt from my Daddy's marriage.

This beautiful person has fought cancer four different times, yet she continues to fight her battle as if it were the cold or the flu.  If I were to be given the news that I had cancer... well, let's just suffice to say that I would handle it no where near with the dignity, grace, and confidence this woman has demonstrated.  Every time I wallow and feel sorry for myself when I am hurting really bad, I make myself think of her.  She has had 4 different occasions to throw in the towel and accept defeat.  She hasn't, and I know she won't.  So how dare I boo hoo over pain.  I am left feeling ashamed and embarrassed, but more importantly, I am proud of her and so blessed that God put her in my life since I was a little girl.

She should be an inspiration to people everywhere, but she is a private person and only let's in those she is close to.  This is why I am telling her story for her.

This card was created with the following supplies:

  • Stamps:
    • Simply Soft
    • Kindness Matters
    • Perfect Words
  • Punches:
    • Modern Label
