One of a Kind

Figured I would tinker with my bow maker for a change. For the past several days, I have a certain design and image in my head, but when it comes time to put the "paste to the paper" so to speak, I completely loose track of what I'm trying to accomplish.  I'll lay in bed at night when I can't sleep (which is more often than not) and I have the perfect vision of what I want to create.  When I step in my craft room, the memory fades away like a vapor cloud.  So, I create and peice together and cut and run things through my big shot and stamp and punch, but can never produce what I think about when I'm away from my craft room.

So, I'll keep trying.  Don't want to waste what I've already made, so I may as well post it for everyone's viewing pleasure ;)

Have a wonderful day & thank you for stopping by!

Love life in Brights

My husband and daughter have always given me a hard time about my choice of colors I gravitate towards.  I will be the first to admit that I am predictable when it comes to my preference of themes and colors.  I have been working really hard to shake up my colors of preference   This example is:  Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, and Regal Rose.  The stamp set used:  Cottage Garden.

Ribbon of Hope

If you are wandering why I'm using this set so often here lately, it's because my adopted Brother ordered 2 bundles of cards to use for a fund raising even to fight Cancer.  (of course I gave him a discount to help further his cause).  Anyway, this particular stamp set, Strength & Hope was a special stamp set that Stampin' Up! made available for a very short time.  The proceeds from purchasing the stamp set were donated for Breast Cancer research. If you'll notice words in the background are:  Courage, Hope, Believe, Unity, Survivor, Caring, Together, Love, Kindness, Support, Strength, Blessed, and Thank You.

Be on the look-out for cards of different varieties.  ")

So Many Smiles in Pearl

I made my own mother of pearl cardstock (lavender oval).  I used:  Frost White Shimmer Pain, and pounced it on Whisper White cardstock with wadded up plastic wrap.  Once the shimmer paint dried, I went over the  cardstock with my brayer using Whisteria Wonder ink. It's beautiful to look at!

Thanks for stopping by folks!

Dylan (age 4) is always a hands-on kind of guy.  He can't stand watching someone do something,  he has to do it himself.

Butterfly Courage

I love all the soft colors I used to create this card - Mellow  Moss,  Blushing Bride,  Close to Cocoa,  and Very Vanilla.

My adoptive Brother got ahold of me on Facebook last night asking how much I would charge for a couple bundles of cards for him to use for a Cancer Fund Raiser he was involved in.  Because it was for a special event I dropped my price in half for him to have a bigger margine to earn more money for the cause.

Here is the fourth card I made for Bill's cousin.  She has really good taste.  She knew exactly what she wanted.
The design of this card was actually inspired by my daughter,  Chelsey.

Winds of Grace

Here is another card that my husbands cousin ordered.

She had some really good suggestions on what she was wanting.  I liked the fact that she was honest with me in letting me know what she did & didn't like.  It increased my confidence just that much more that reassured me if she said she was happy with what I made for her, she really was happy.

Daisies

My husbands cousin put in an order for 4 custom cards.  This is the first card she ordered.

It has been over 5 months since I have been up to making any cards.  It was an odd feeling coming into my craft room, the room I used to feel was my sanctuary.  The place where I could escape to when the world outside was carrying on.  It was a nice peaceful feeling.

This card was put together using the following materials:
  • Stamp Set/s:
    • Vintage Vogue (sentiment)
  • Punhes:
    • Square Punch (ribbon Dove-edges on the sentiment)

Thinking of You

I'm thinking I like this card layout.  I'm also seeing another trend.  I've been doing a lot of "Thinking of You" cards here lately.

I embossed the Whisper White base with Perfect Dot embossing folder, cut 3 strips of Night & Day Specialty Designer Paper and with my sponge dauber I rubbed a light layer of ink on the cardstock & then wiped away to reveal the embossed images originally on the specialty paper. Punched a butterfly shape, added ribbon and a sentiment.

I'm thinking this sketch is from one of the Challenges I've seen lately, however, I can't find it again... sigh...

Stamps:  Wonderful Watercolors
Punches:  Butterfly and Square punches
Big Shot:  Perfect Dots Embossing Folder and Adorning Accents Edgelits
Misc:  Ribbon, sponge daubers, and dimensionals
Colors Used:  Whisper White cardstock and Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizazz, Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray inks.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it's very appreciated!

Wishing Blessing or you & yours;

Thinking of You - Guest Designer

I am humbled to announce that I have been asked by the lovely team from Sunny Challenges and Creations to be their Guest Designer for the month of July.  I couldn't resist this great opportunity!  The first week is a Color Challenge that includes River Rock, Cherry Cobbler, and Marina Mist.  I have never considered using these colors together and I am so pleased with how they compliment one another.  I now have a new favorite group of colors I intend to use every chance I get!

And here is my interpretation of the colors:

On this card I thought I would break up the background mat behind the focal image by tearing the paper in half and piecing it together.   Thinking of You is embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder, the bird's wing is embossed using the Square Lattice embossing folder. There's not really anything spectacular about this card, I was shooting for a clean layout.

This card was created using the following Stampin' Up! supplies:
  • Stamp Set/s:
    • You Are Loved
    •  Simple Friendship (image stamped on the bird)
  • Punches:
    • Bird Builder Punch
    • Oval Punch
    • Lace Ribbon Border Punch
    • Decorative Label Punch
  • Big Shot:
    • Square Lattice Embossing Folder
    • Designer Frames Embossing Folder
    • Framelits Labels Collection
  • Misc:
    • Bling Gem (bird's eye)
    • Brads from Subtles collection
    • Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder
  • Colors Used:
    • River Rock
    • Cherry Cobbler
    • Marina Mist
Thank you so much for stopping by.  I look forward to presenting next week's challenge so stay tuned!

So Many Smiles - Just Because

You ever have one of those days that just went great from beginning to end, there there were no snags and everything just clicked?  I experienced one of those days today!   I got up early, took my Rottweiler for a walk, or did he walk me?  lol anyway, while we were walking down the road the fragrance of fresh cut alfalfa triggered memories of my family's farm I grew up on in Western Idaho, right on the Idaho / Oregon border with the Snake River.

What I wouldn't give to feel safe and carefree without a worry in the world, other than who was dating who and who quit talking to who.   It's too bad when we are younger, we don't have the good sense to just stop and absorb everything going on around you and absorb it to your memory so you can hold on to forever.  Shoulda-Woulda-Coulda or Hind sight is 20/20 I suppose.

This card is inspired by the creative Cindy Elam with Heart's Delight Cards.

I used Stampin' Write Markers to color the hummingbird stamp to ensure the colors were the way I wanted.  My camera didn't do this card justice, but I'm sure you get the idea.  ")  To make the flowers I punched out flowers with the Boho Blossoms punch, wadded them up and shaped & twisted them around to be the shape I wanted. To give additional dimension to the hummingbird I cut out and added an additional wing

The outside of the card says:  So many smiles...

And the inside says:  ...begin with you!

Thanks for stoping by!  Have a beautiful day.
Blessings and Inky Hugs;
~Shawnie B
