Hand Penned Thanksgiving

Good afternoon!

I hope everyone is enjoying their turkey day!  Unfortunately I am not feeling well, so I will be staying home alone while Bill & the kids go to Aunt Diana's for Thanksgiving feast.  I'm hoping  they will remember to bring a "doggy bag" for me.  ")

Anyway, this card actually started out to be something else and this is what it has evolved into.  It's larger than the traditional 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 so it won't be able to be placed into an envelope.  Wouldn't want to put it in an envelope, anyway because the sentiment is raised in some area's.  I did it like this to create more 3rd dimensional.

Items used to create this card:
  • French Foliage
  • Hand-Penned Holidays
  • Button
  • Cutter Kit
  • Distressing Essentials
  • Hemp Twine
  • Perfect Pearls
  • Dotted Scallop Punch
  • Velum
  • Daubers
I love the way the Perfect Pearls medium from Ranger dances in the light.  The color is vibrant to look at first hand.

 Blessings & inky hugs!

Sympathy Cross - With Love & Caring - Dawn O CASE

Here is a Sympathy card I made that was inspired by Dawn Olchefske, otherwise known as Dawn O.  She is very creative and has a lot A WHOLE LOT of wisdom to share.  She is one of those crafters who have a lot of knowledge, but she doesn't brag about it.

She will also not hesitate to give another crafter credit that she got a technique from.  To be technical, very few projects are "new" or "just came up with".  Everyone learns from everyone else and no specific technique was originated by any specific person.  Even if it's a spin-off, that's more than likely what gave you the idea.  The thing is, all these techniques have been around since the beginning of paper, ink, scissors, and rubber stamps!  Anyway, now that I've got that off my chest I'll get off my soap box and share what I intended to share when I created this post!  ;)

This woman is amazing! She has a library set up categorizing different techniques, video's, how to use certain products, etc... And she's not afraid to give somebody else credit if she learned it from someone else, when if you actually want to be specific, nobody (very seldom I've never seen it) where someone comes up with a technique on their own.

So, with that being said, here is a card that was made where the lattice design was trimmed down to create a cross.  It was cut out using my Bigz Lattice Die.  A flower was then punched out using my Boho Blossoms Punch and a circle punch from the Itty Bitty Bits Punch Pack.  Then adorned it with a pearl halfback from the Pretties Kit (retired).  I also punched out a 1 1/2 inch circle with my Circle Punch with Baja Breeze and placed it behind the flower ensemble.  I also used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch twice behind the cross. Sentiment was stamped using the Thanks for Caring stamp set.

Thank you SO much for stopping by!

I think the Mojo is Back!

So, here is a card I was in a mood to make. I think I have figured out why I "think" I've lost / misplaced my Mojo. Here lately I have been pushing myself to go above and beyond on my cards. To take them up a notch and make them better. I have been running around in circles trying to make them better and greater that all I've been doing is running around in circles with nothing getting finished or accomplished.

I have decided that for a while (unless something strikes me), I am going to start "Kiss" ing my cards. Keep It Simple S.... Silly. For the sake of being chastised for being negative against myself, I have chosen to use the name Silly instead of Stupid for this annogram.  :)

Anyway, I kept it simple & basic and I don't think it turned out too bad.  Besides, less is sometimes more.

Before Bill, my dear husband of going on 18 years was medically retired (construction worker) he still has the "eye".  He spots right off any abnormal levels with anything!  A room, furniture, signs, pictures, etc...  It drives him crazy when things are uneven.  I emboss different shapes in the background that makes the rest of the card look un-even.  With this card, he says it looks like it's not straight.  He's right, it does LOOK like it's not straight, but it is.  You've got the bottom mat embossed with lines at a slant AND you've also got the Designer Paper under the flowers, they are slanting as well.

So, I hope you enjoyed that little story.  Ingredients used to make this card are down below as labels.

Remember, I appreciate comments and being followed.  If you have followed me and would like me to follow you, please leave a comment with your web address and I will return the favor!  :)

Welcome Babies! I'm Gonna be a Nana Again!

Greetings!  I am so excited!  For those of you who have experienced the blessing of being a Grandparent, you know exactly what I'm talking about.  If you are not a Grandparent, let me tell you it is the most beautiful life changing experience in the whole world!

Well, I've already got 2 of the most beautiful Grandsons you would ever want to see, and I have just learned that Lauren, my oldest daughter is going to be giving Dylan, often called Bug, a new little baby brother or sister, we're hoping sister.  I'm really hesitant to be so happy though because Lauren has a history of not being able to carry to full term and Bug's pregnancy was dangerous every time we turned around and his labor stayed in form.  The cord was wrapped around his little neck twice.  When he was born he was black/purple and he wasn't moving.  Nobody in the birthing room let out a breath while nurses & the Dr worked on him.  Time for me froze until I heard the beautiful melody of his cries.  Once I knew he was okay I started breathing and the dam broke.

Anyway, we're going to be positive about this pregnancy, Lauren is taking good care of herself and things are going to be just fine.  It's going to be hard not living under the same roof for this pregnancy like the first one.  It's going to be really hard on me because I can't be there with her to experience everything.  I've got to hear it through a phone call as she lives in the next town over.  Sigh.  Anyway, I made some Welcome Baby cards to celebrate the news...

Goodies used to make the above card:
  • Baby Firsts Stamp Set
  • Short and Sweet Stamp Set
  • So Cute Stamp Set

  • Crystal Effects
So, that's it for the baby cards!  With the last card, I put Crystal Effects on the bubbles and played with it to get a lot of air bubbles (normally you don't want to do this as you want a smooth glass impression) but because they are bubbles, I wanted to enhance that feature of the image.  I also added some coloring to the "bubbles" as well.  :)

God Bless you and thanks for stopping by!!
