Poser Thank You

lol The reason why I titled this post as Poser Thank You, note the butterfly & the flower on the front of the card.  Usually I make all the embellishments on my cards.  These, I did not make.  Since I didn't make them, I'm calling them Posers.  lol  Not that anything is wrong with using pre-made embellishments.  I have tons of them laying around.  I just am the type to make them is all.  (kind of like preferring to make meals out of scratch instead of out of a box)

Oh, the card.  That's right.

This is a circle card I used by folding my cardstock in half and running it through my Big Shot with my Lacey Circles Die with a tiny portion outside of the die so it didn't get cut.  If the whole thing would have been in the die, I would have ended up with two lacey circles.  <-- WOW, That doesn't even make sense to me!!!!

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!'s Tiny Tags stamp set & Tiny Tags punch.  After punching out the tag I laced silver floss through it and hooked a safety pin through the floss and the ribbon.  I felt this card needed far more sparkles than just the ones on the Poser butterfly & flower, but couldn't really find any other place to make it fit or work.  So, I opted out this time.  Some sprinkle is better than no sprinkle, I suppose.

Well folks, I've just uploaded ump-teen different posts for the ump teen different cards I've made recently.  I'm tuckered!

A Merry Christmas Tree Greeting

Hi there!  Christmas is going to sneak up closer than we expect, especially for a card maker.  You can never make enough Christmas cards!

This one was made using my corner punch on some Christmas paper, word window punch for the stump, and half of the Round Tab punch for the tree stand.  I added a star shaped brad to the top of the tree.  This card was inspired by Joanne French.

Happy Birthday in Stitches

I just finished this card and figured I would take the picture and get it loaded on the website before I started another card (I have a habit of putting it off and then I'm left holding a stack full of cards that I have to load and document).

The carnation used on this card is home made.  Click here for my tutorial for making these flowers.  They are simple to do and look quite real when they are finished.

The background is some patchwork quilting I did, at least I think that's what it is.  Anyway, I had a bunch of scraps of Stampin' Up!'s designer paper and because it's so beautiful AND I hate to waste even the tiniest bit of paper I figured this would be a perfect time to use it.  Once the whole sheet of cardstock was full with the pieces fitting together, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Bigz Top Note die.  Once I had the patchwork shape of the top note, I ran it through the Big Shot again in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder this time.  There, that definitely gave it a unique look & texture.

I had some misc clear stamps I used for the Postal H in the upper right hand corner and the Cross Stitched Happy Birthday sentiment in the lower right hand corner.  Once I stamped the sentiment I took about four different colors:  Concord Crush, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, & Wild Wasabi and their matching sponge daubers and did some pouncing, which gave it a cool effect.

Another step, not sure why I did it, but I guess it doesn't look too bad is a button with silver DMC floss strung through holding an apple shaped charm.

So, with the name of this post, were you expecting a funny card?  Not quite, but it is fitting considering the sentiment is to look like it was cross stitched & embroidered, hence the "stitch" in the title.  I don't usually use stamp set's from other manufacturers but with the quilt theme, I wanted the sentiment to blend smoothly with everything else - yeah?

Glad your My Dad

Yay!  I am very excited to announce that this post has been featured on Kelly Mayou's Blog Finds of the Day!  This is a wonderful thing that Kelly does and I am so humbled that she felt my card was worthy enough to be listed.

As you know, if you have read my personal details you would know that my Daddy is no longer here on earth with me.  Well, there is another man who has really made a difference in my life, and that is my Father in-Law.  He's been a parent figure for me for the last 18 years, he has put up with me through a lot, so I think he's rather earned the title of my Dad.  He is an avid hunter and all over outdoorsman, so I made him this card from the Wildlife Reserve stamp set.  It looks a little blurry, but it's only because of the way I chalked it.  I applied the chalk sweeping in the same direction, thought it would add an interesting look to it.

Goodies used to make this card:
  • Stamp Set - Wildlife Refuge
  • Stamp Set - Just so Sayings
  • Stamp Set - Tiny Tags
  • Brads
  • Nesties - Oval
  • Punch - Tiny Tag
  • Punch - Word Window
  • Silver Floss
  • Texturez Plates - Distressed
  • Hodgepodge Hardware Photo Anchor

God Bless you and thanks for stopping by!!

A Card & a Celebration

Yay!  I am so excited!  I was looking through my email as I do on a daily basis and I discovered that my website / blog was recognized and publicly listed as a blog worth visiting!  How incredibly cool is that?!
I have been in quite a funk here recently and have been looking everywhere for my Mojo but it's been hiding really good. That bit of recognition just might be enough to lift me out of this funk I'm in & back on the road to creating and enjoying what I'm doing!
This card was made for my Dr's office.  Every time I have an appointment to see my Dr. I always bring them a card.  They are always so good to Bill & I.  I wander what they would do if I every didn't bring them a card?  hmmm.

This card was made with the following items:
  • Stamp Set – Awash with Flowers
  • Stamp Set – Tiny Tags
  • Eyelet
  • Large Grommet
  • Punch – Scallop Picture Corner
  • Punch – Tiny Tag
  • Ribbon
  • Silver Floss
I hope you enjoy looking at my cards as much as I enjoy making them!  I welcome all comments and suggestions at my website.

Blessings & Inky Hugs!
